Chime Makes It a Heavy Summer With Recent ‘Featherweight’ EP
Unleashing his freshly minted sound with new thunderous music, DJ/producer Chime is quickly climbing the ranks of dance as his monumental character and passion for cutting-edge production goes hardly unnoticed. Summer just got a whole lot heavier with the recent release of Chime’s Featherweight EP, and all the heavy hitter dance fans out there are more than pleased with this original series of musical thrills.
Hailing from Leeds, England, Harvey Thompson is conquering dance under his stage name Chime. Another young and thriving producer, Thompson is straight rockin’ and rollin’ as a 23 – year- old with bursting musical creativity. When it comes to mixing brand new sounds that represent his evolving style, Thompson wholeheartedly puts his soul into his tracks that make him stand out while simultaneously cultivating a worldwide fan base. In 2010 when Chime first began producing, he was inspired from aggressive sounds by The Prodigy and chiptunes of video game music. The ever-popular drum and bass scene was also a mega influence for the adventurous style Chime began to put forth in his music.
With those kick drum beats still present in aspects of Featherweight, this UK star vamped up the EP 10x more with the addition of heavier, more intense, and dramatic melodies that are undeniably wild and enticing. Each of the four tracks features signature Chime suspense yet soar with their own unique and spellbinding stamina. Bottomless basslines, haunting rhythms, and exhilarating transitions makeup Featherweight and its adrenalizing beats and synths. Featherweight’s release marks an epic moment in Chime’s journey over the years as its momentous power and attention are taking him to the next level of support and recognition in the industry.
“’Featherweight’ EP is a collection of heavier Chime tracks with the title referring to the softer, ambient touches I always manage to hide within. For me it represents a step forward in my sound design and ability to create dancefloor-friendly tracks while keeping things fresh and interesting – something I’m striving to do more and more as I grow as a producer. It’s been a joy to see audiences react to each of the tracks when played live and I can’t wait to unleash them on the world!” – Chime
