Illenium Makes Solid Sophomore LP Return With ‘Awake’

Emotional dance music best describes the sounds of Illenium, which explains why his sophomore album Awake is 13 tracks of raw emotion. Out now on Seeking Blue/Kasaya, Awake is an authentic, artistic creations that takes listeners on a journey from start-to-finish.

Awake begins with a subtle yet secure vocal track, “Needed You” feat. Dia Frampton followed by the recently released “Crawl Outta Love” feat Annika Wells. Track 3, “No Time Like Now,” an interlude, seamlessly progresses into “Free Fall” feat. RUNN, which also perfectly and powerfully transitions into “Where’d U Go” feat. Said the Sky.

The vibe on Illenium’s second album—the follow-up to his debut album, Ashes—continues with familiar tracks 6 and 7, “Fractures” feat. Nevve and “Leaving.”Awake is memorable, keeping a thorough consistency throughout with Illenium’s emotional-yet-grungy sound. The LP wraps up with the upbeat “Beautiful Creatures” feat. MAX and the beautiful “Let You Go” feat. Ember Island.
