Kx5 ft HAYLA “Escape” Tops Shazam #1 U.S Dance Chart and #47 Top 200 After Appearing on Apple TV’s “Shrinking”
When Kaskade (Ryan Raddon) and deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) first partnered on their 2008 smash “I Remember,” the pair were leading names in the rapidly expanding electronic music scene that enraptured a generation of music lovers across America. 15 years later, the duo formalized their occasional collaborations and long-running friendship into Kx5 and released their GRAMMY(r)-nominated self-titled, independently released album Kx5 (mau5trap/Arkade/AWAL). Today, November 20, Kx5’s 2022 debut single “Escape” featuring UK artist HAYLA returned to mainstream interest, appearing at #1 on Shazam’s U.S. dance chart and #47 on U.S. Top 200. The placements were propelled by the song appearing in the latest episode (S2 E6) of popular Apple TV show “Shrinking.” View here.
“It’s so exciting to see new fans tracking down the song from ‘Shrinking. It’s such a timeless track and really made for an ideal scene closer between Christa Miller and Matt Knudson’s characters, rolling into the credits so viewers could get a strong gauge of the music.” – HAYLA
Kx5 was dubbed by Music Radar, “…a stunning collection of electronic music that harks back to the late-00s progressive house while intertwining contemporary, intricate sound design and emotive vocal performances.” Breakout single “Escape” featuring HAYLA carried on the tradition of sleek melodic house music first heard on “I Remember” (and its follow-up “Move For Me”), crowned as one of the “50 Best Dance Songs of 2022” by Billboard. The song also won the “Electronic Chill Track of the Year” from the BBC’s Radio 1 Dance Awards and was nominated for an iHeart Radio Music Award for “Dance Song Of The Year.”
To date, “Escape” has garnered over 128 million streams collectively across all platforms and still continues to remain a staple for many of the top EDM artists in their major festival and club sets via its original version and remixes by such heavy hitters of the genre including John Summit, Subtronics, LP Giobbi, Tall Order, Spencer Brown and LoKii. In addition, “Escape” was featured during Kaskade’s in-game DJ set this past Super Bowl LVIII.
