Levi Q&A with The Nocturnal Times:
The Nocturnal Times: Tell us about some of your earliest memories about music from your childhood…
Levi: Oh wow, there are so many memories of music being introduced to me in my childhood. from “busses and trains” bachelor girl to “Freestylin” Groove Armada. It’s been just a constant in my life, It’s also given me such an open mind to different genres, which in turn has helped my journey in music.
The Nocturnal Times: When did you realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
Levi: I never truly pursued it as a career, it’s always just been a part of my life. From playing the guitar at school to DJing events and posting songs online, I’ve only really seen it as a career recently. And I’m super grateful.
The Nocturnal Times: If it wasn’t music, what would it be and why?
Levi: Acting, before I started working on music full-time I was actually in a few indie films and commercials. I really enjoyed it, so I defiantly would have pursed it more if I wasn’t so invested in music.
The Nocturnal Times: Who motivates you most musically? Some of your creative aspirations?
Levi: The R&B genre is where almost all of my creative inspiration comes from, I listen to so much of it. Big Chris Brown fan, Kehlani, and especially Soul For Real. Candy rain is incredible.
The Nocturnal Times: Which came first for you – DJing or producing? Do you prefer or feel more comfortable with one over the other?
Levi: DJing for sure, It’s hard to encapsulate different styles into one body of work with producing, DJing allows you to change moods and add energy. And you get to watch that in real time.
The Nocturnal Times: What goes into creating and choosing a follow-up single to one that’s been as successful as “Jump?”
Levi: I don’t think there is any formula or science to picking a song, Each song is its own piece and I just create what I love in the moment. For me there’s no pressure to recreate what’s happened with “Jump.” I just put out what I connect with.
The Nocturnal Times: Have you been making music this year, and if so, how many unreleased tracks do you have in your repertoire at the moment?
Levi: I’ve make a fair bit this year, There will definitely be a few more releases coming to the end of the year and a big remix that’s out very soon that I’m really keen to share.
The Nocturnal Times: When can fans expect to hear the follow-up?
Levi: All I can say is, the songs are done…
The Nocturnal Times: What have gigs and shows been like for you since you exploded onto the scene earlier this year?
Levi: They’ve been crazy… Crazy! There’s not much more to it – it’s shocking to me. Every show is a unique crowd that’s just… crazy.
The Nocturnal Times: Might you already have teased your next single on the road?
Levi: All I can say is Yes, Yes I have. And it was very well received.
The Nocturnal Times: What are some of your all-time favorite dance/electronic songs and why?
Levi: “Freestylin” Groove armada. So weird and unique, a genuine timeless classic. “Levels” Avicii, Not much to be said probably the best chord progression in dance music. And to be honest David Guetta Sexy Bitch is a fantastic track that may be criminally underrated haha.
The Nocturnal Times: Where do you see yourself five years from now?
Levi: Hopefully on some main stages around the world, in front of amazing crowds at my own shows or just hanging out with my dog. Both would be awesome.
