matphilly & SUBshockers Team Up For New Tribute Project, a 5-Track ‘AMP’ EP
Born and raised Los Angeles DJ/Producer matphilly has captivated the hearts of many fans already. Now matphilly has teamed up with Ted Vinzon and Justin Tice, better know as SUBshockers, to officially launch a season of songs that will be consuming their focus for the next few weeks — that is, until they release their full 5-track EP, AMP, on February 3, 2023.
The AMP EP is a deeply personal project to matphilly. It began as one song written about his brother who tragically passed away in July 2020. When the first song was laid out, the idea expanded more into an EP focusing on his brother in the eyes of matphilly and those who were closest to his late brother. AMP is his brothers initials and the EP acts as a legacy, fueling the mission of matphilly to spread his musicianship far and wide and performing more live beyond just DJing.
The first release off AMP will be “All I’m Missing In This…It Makes Me Numb”. This single kicks off the experience with power and momentum. This track has turned in to a beautifull blend of colorful chord progressions, epic atmospheres, and sound design themes that grip the attention of the throughout its entirety. One might say that there’s plenty of surprises found within, from small breaks in the tension filled by gentle piano chords, to ultra-vivid riddim drops with intense technicality at the forefront. If this track is the first track of the EP one can only wonder what the other tracks hold in store for us. “All I’m Missing In This…It Makes Me Numb” is out now.
