Melodic Techno Artist Robot Sunrise to Debut Live-hybrid Orchestral Set in DTLA
Melodic techno artist Robot Sunrise – the solo project of producer/DJ/multi-instrumentalist Danny Klein – will debut his experiential, live-hybrid showcase, The Robot Sunrise Experience, on Saturday, November 9 in DTLA.
“The Robot Sunrise Experience Show is a chance to tell the story of Robot Sunrise in a profoundly moving way. Though it will have a high energy melodic techno dance party vibe, we’re adding live orchestral elements – with Chihsuan on violin and Zach Ramacier on trumpet and flugelhorn. A gang of the Robot Sunrise characters will be on stage and in the crowd as the Robot Sunrise story is being told through expressive dance, and the True / OTG fam is building a crazy custom stage and lighting set up to showcase it all.” – Robot Sunrise
Designed to feel like a “micro-festival” with eclectic food, drink, and vendor options, The Robot Sunrise Experience will be an all-night melodic techno extravaganza, transforming a 600+ capacity warehouse with vaulted wooden ceilings and a vintage ’80s Klipsch sound system into a melodic techno haven. Complete with custom staging, lighting, and projection, this one-of-a-kind event will be headlined by Robot Sunrise himself, who will debut his live-hybrid melodic techno set with orchestral accompaniment – an ensemble that includes GRAMMY-nominated, multi-instrumentalist Chihsuan (who’s played with Yo-Yo Ma, Brian Wilson, David Foster, and more) and trumpeter Zach Ramacier (known for his work with Louis Cole, Genevieve Artadi, Saint Motel, Adrian Younge, and more).
The one-night-only event will also feature spellbinding DJ sets from Bright Lights (whose collaborations with superstar artists ranging from Justin Bieber to Hardwell have accumulated more than one billion streams across platforms), Little Dinosaur (who’s performed at Coachella’s DoLab stage as well as at Lightning In A Bottle), Off The Grid Campout-founder Mikey Made, 10-year-old DJ prodigy Derringer (who recently electrified audiences at the SoCal edition of Off The Grid Campout), and RK Midnight.
Each individual performer will embody a character from the Robot Sunrise universe, drawing the audience in as an elaborate, science-fiction-inspired narrative unfolds throughout the event.
Set 3,000 years in the future, the Robot Sunrise world depicts AI beings existing within an exploitative corporate slave trade, and who begin to experience human-like emotions – love, mortality, and a longing for freedom and independence. At the moment of “Robot Sunrise,” they peacefully walk out of their factories and work-farms, symbolizing a powerful act of resistance fueled by the healing and motivational power of dance music.
This story will be conveyed through music, visuals, and interpretive dance led by Ultra Music Festival’s lead aerialist Frankie Tan, creating a fully immersive experience that blends melodic rave sonics with hypnotic projections and choreography. The narrative ethos of Robot Sunrise revolves around liberation and supporting the oppressed, a thematic dimension that Klein will translate into real-world action by donating a portion of the proceeds to The Human Rights Foundation.
