Mochakk Drops First Part of Two Installment EP ‘Locomotiva Ibiza 2099’
Following his globally acclaimed 2023 single “Jealous,” Mochakk returns to CircoLoco Records with a dynamic and diverse six-track dual EP, Locomotiva Ibiza 2099. The Brazilian DJ and producer, known for his energetic live performances, broadens his production horizons as he continues to solidify his place as one of the most exciting names in electronic music.
The first installment of the collection, Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 I, released on July 26th, opens with the title track, “Locomotiva Ibiza 2099,” a surprising collaboration with VTSS. Normally known for her hard techno sound, her first collaboration with Mochakk delivers a refreshing departure with twinkling synths and a tempo barely above 125 bpm.
Next up is “The Line,” a solo track by Mochakk on the EP, which maintains a downtempo house pace with blistering snares and an irresistible synth line. This release marks one of Mochakk’s first forays into providing his own vocals, potentially signalling a new creative chapter. The dominating vocal hook seamlessly intertwines with the rhythm, guiding the listener’s movements. The EP closes with “Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 (Dub Mix),” a stripped-back yet impactful version of the original. Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 I EP is out now on all streaming platforms.
Set for release on September 6th, Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 II completes the dual EP, starting with the irresistible groove of “No Boys Allowed,” featuring Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis. Known for her collaborations with JPEGMAFIA and Charli XCX, her subtle vocal style hypnotically intertwines with Mochakk’s production, complementing the chugging kick drums, meandering synth melody, and low-slung bassline.
“Estribeira” follows, featuring fellow Brazilian artist and good friend Artisian. With a more direct dancefloor construction, this stripped-back track features vocal and siren samples intermixed with heavy kick drums and a punchy bassline. A no-nonsense DJ tool, it has been featured heavily in Mochakk sets and is finally being unveiled to the masses.
With a darker energy than its more upbeat counterpart, “No Boys Allowed (Street Mix)” closes out the EP, swapping the 4/4 house feel for razor-sharp electro percussion and layered atmospherics, serving as an ode to Mochakk’s intricate passion for all things bass.
