Young Parisians & JES Team Up for “Love Comes Quickly”
Young Parisians (the alias of Richard ‘Solarstone’ Mowatt) has a release history that’s as long as it is judiciously curated. It mixes now-established classics like “U Write The Rules” and “Jump The Next Train” with occasional covers (inc. Animotion’s “Obsession” in 2007 being the last) and more recent fare like ‘Rediscover’ (w/Katherine Amy). All YP’s music though has two aspects in common: a top-note-tinge of the 80s and a moodsome “presence” unlike any other.
“JES and I worked together on this because her voice always reminded me a little of Dusty Springfield. Her collaborations with the Pet Shop Boys (like ‘What Have I Done to Deserve This’ and ‘Nothing Has Been Proved’) always complimented their music so well. Pet Shop Boys were the soundtrack to my teenage years, and ‘Love Comes Quickly’ was always one of my favorites. I’ve wanted to remix them for years, but I guess they lost my number! The idea was to make a kind of cover-cum-remix fusion, recreating a lot of the original sounds by researching which synths were used back in 1986. We also created a variation on the original cover art for the single and the arrangement of my ‘Disco Mix’ is based upon Shep Pettibone’s version of the same name’. The addition of the old-school Chicago House piano break was a bit of fun that I thought that Neil & Chris would get a kick out of if they ever came across this release.” – Young Parisians
To affect the re-imagining of “Love Comes Quickly”, Richard needed a very specific kind of vocal talent. Enter JES, the 3 times GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter, and the voice behind immortals like ‘As The Rush Comes’ and ‘As We Collide’. Richard and JES already have distinguished history, having previously collaborated on the Tiësto-championed “In Search Of Sunrise” classic, “Like A Waterfall”. Finally finding the right opportunity for a second coming-together. “Love Comes Quickly” is out now on all mayor streaming platforms.
